This week I am posing a question:
“Do you think there will ever be a cure for mental illness? Why? Why not?”
Please reply seriously or in good fun.

Possibly. I think that would require being able to pinpoint exactly what’s at the root of someone’s illness and specifically targeting that. I don’t think that will happen anytime soon, but maybe some day science will be advanced enough.

Do you think for, say, schizophrenia, there would be different causes? I am trying to determine if you feel there are different causes for the various mental illnesses.

I think there are definitely multiple contributing factors. Whether there’s one core factor that makes people vulnerable that’s common among everyone with a given illness – possaibly. Hard to know

I see. Thanks for your insight. I also wonder if this one factor would indicate, due to severity of illness, what kind of illness a person got, but I don’t think that’s what we’re talking about exactly.
